You’ll need pinion setting tools, bearing splitters, bearing pullers, and a hydraulic press would be nice. Setting a differential up properly isn’t for the weak of tools and experience. Without the proper training and tools you are better off shipping the parts to a shop that does have the right equipment. Along with the tools mentioned above you are going to need some big sockets, a long handled 1/2 or 3/4 drive ratchet/torque wrench, and going in the other direction you’ll need to get an inch pound torque wrench. If you are doing a lot of axle set ups then you may even want to get a torque multiplier for crushing crush sleeves. Torque multipliers are expensive, but they’ll keep you from beating yourself up with standard tools. |
