You may think you want fuel injection, but don’t be fooled. Other than cold start, today’s carburetor technology has evolved to a point where driveability and performance with a great carb such as Quickfuel offers tuned for your car is hard to distinguish. And a carb replacement is thousands less than a fuel injection installation.

Since our shop specializes in tuning, we have a lot to offer in the area of fuel systems. We work with some great companies like Quick Fuel Technology for Holley style carburetors, and John Meaney’s “Big Stuff 3” for fuel injection systems. We can install a purchased kit or build you a complete system. Whether your system is carbureted or fuel injected we can get it to run right.

You might consider using a Stewart fuel pump instead of an electric pump. You need to have a block (SBC or BBC, some other applications soon to come) that accepts a stock pump. It will handle as much as 2,000 HP with much less parasitic power loss than a stock pump.

You need to have a fuel pressure gauge placed where it can be seen at all times. An engine can be lost in less than a second if fuel supply is interrupted; especially if it is high compression, turbo charged or supercharged. I even connect a Hobbs switch to the system to turn on a low pressure warning light and to bring in the rev limiter. You can’t react quickly enough to avoid damage, such as on the piston shown. That happened in about a second.

Our responsibility as advisors goes beyond just giving you accurate and worthwhile information. We also want to make sure that the parts you buy and install are the ones that will work with your hotrod. While a killer carb, like the QuickFuel shown above, or John Meaney’s Big Stuff fuel injection may be the talk of the cruise night, something simpler may be best for your application. You may want to go with a simple Mass Air Flow system instead of a high tech fuel injection system, or a box stock Holley with a choke. Each decision should be based on good sense, not “whose is bigger.” Feel free to contact us to discuss things before you make a decision you can’t live with.
